The Spark weekend wouldn’t happen without an awesome team of 150+ volunteers!
Volunteers are proud to be UBC Sauder students and want to create the best possible welcome for new students by assisting with set-up, tear down, game stations, registration, food distribution, and more.
They get a behind-the-scenes experience and are right in the middle of all the action!

are passionate about making sure every new student feels welcome in the UBC Sauder community

Possible Time commitment of a Spark Volunteer
Attend Initial Spark (Saturday, July 20, 2024) - For volunteers to build community with the Exec Team and other volunteers, and to practice some volunteer roles. Food will be provided.
Attend one Spark Work Party (evening of September 4 and 5, 2024) - Help the Spark Exec Team assemble team boxes and complete all the last-minute tasks leading up to the event. Dinner will be provided.
Attend The Spark (Friday - Saturday, September 6 and 7, 2024 - variety of shifts available) - The Spark builds community and school spirit, by providing opportunities to further develop interpersonal relationships among new students and with their Orientation Leaders.
what happens after i sign up?
Our Volunteer Director will reach out to you around May or so, welcoming you into the role and giving you an overview of The Spark and the role. They will keep you connected to the Spark Exec Team and the other Spark Volunteers during the summer through social media, emails, and social events.
